Spriegold Woodcrafts is based in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory.
The proprietor has long had a passion for things made from timber and has concentrated on developing his design and practical skills so that quality products emanate from his workshop.
Only premium grade kiln dried timbers are purchased. Where practicable timber is racked and stored (in Canberra) for a period of time, to allow acclimatization before use. Timbers such as Jarrah, Southern Silver Ash, Red Ash and Camphor Laurel are generally held in stock.
For all turned items Jarrah Burl is the preferred raw material, as generally it is of good quality, stable, not as heavy and more attractive (in my opinion) than some other types of burl.
A range of items including Tables (both occasional and dining), Beds, Clocks, Cutting Boards, (both inlaid and end grain), Wine racks, and traditional Butchers blocks are made. Finishes used include Polyurethane -matt, satin and full gloss (which is sprayed on) also, Waxes and Oils.
Comission items can be made to clients specific requirements. A free quotation service is available.
Spriegold Woodcrafts has been a casual stall holder at the Old Bus Depot Markets (WWW.obdm.com.au) Wentworth Avenue, Kingston, ACT for more than 10 years. The continuing support of this Market is because the proprietor considers the OBDM to be the best craft market in the ACT. Between January and October, Spriegold Woodcrafts has a causal stall site at the OBDM every third week, this frequency increases during November and December each year.
